"This is a *UNIQUE* version of this printer. It is physically the same as teh Datamax Prodigy Plus 152 dpi, but has only the lessor resolution. There is NO THERMAL RIBBON TRANSFER ASSEMBLY. It was never installed during manufacturing. These were special order and optimized for FedEx label printing. We do not have the transfer assembly or know if it's even installable.This item is a good source for mechanical parts for servicing or can be used to print basic labels when combined with the Label Matrix software. A good deal for a heavy duty printer. The U501's power drive mode allows it to deliver print speeds up to eight inches per second. The U501's printhead temperature control circuit maintains typeset-quality on every printed image. The U501 is quick and easy to install and connect to your PC.C. Unimark Bar Code Label Printer Datamax Prodigy It's built in & included driver for the Unimark U501 printer is the only one we have found to support this particular model. Our recommendation for software with this printer is Label Matrix by Strandware. Label Matrix is very flexible and includes database access through a variety of datasources as well as static labels.
